Instructions & Help

Who can participate in the Summer Reading Program?

Everyone! The Summer Reading Program is designed for all ages and all readers, and even babies.

What materials count towards the Summer Reading Program?

Any books, audiobooks, eBooks or eAudiobooks that are checked out from the Placentia or Anaheim Libraries, and read between Saturday, June 24 and Thursday, August 9 can be counted.

Do I have to use the online system to track my Summer Reading or is there a paper version? What's the difference? Do I have to use both?

We have two ways you can join the Summer Reading program: in person or online.  Both programs work the same except the online program allows you to track your progress digitally.  If you prefer to use the paper logs/tickets stop by the Library to register and receive your reading logs/tickets.  Please only use one system to track your progress throughout the summer.

How do I register online?

Go to http://placentialibrary.bookpoints.org  and sign-up.  When signing up online please write down your username and password so you don't forget.

What are family accounts?

Family accounts allow you to have one login to manage all your readers. When you register just be sure to add all readers in your family, even grandma!  Then click between the readers to easily add books and earn prizes!

What is the difference between a user and a reader?

A user account is created and used to access the Summer Reading Program website.  Readers are the individual profiles that earn points and prizes for reading over the summer. After creating a user account you will need to create reader profiles for each person in your family who will be participating. One user account will have one or more readers.

How do I register for my young child who cannot yet read?

If you're reading for a child, you can sign-up for the Children’s program.  When you register be sure to add the child as a reader then select the Children’s program to track their progress.

What happened to the Read to Me program?

To make things easier we merged the Read to Me program with the Children’s program.  All children ages 0-12 can participate in the Children’s program.

When does the reading program start and end?

The Summer Reading Program officially starts on June 23 with the Summer Reading Celebration and ends on August 9.  Be sure not to miss our End of Summer Luau and Ice Cream Social on August 11.

When will prizes be awarded?

Prizes will be available for pick-up at the Library starting on Monday, June 25 and can be picked up through Saturday, August 11.  The Grand Prize winners will be announced at the End of Summer Luau and Ice Cream Social on August 11.

Where do I pick up my prize?

You can pick up your prizes at the Summer Reading Program Information Desk at the Library.
